Built to Spill and The Meat Puppets @ Toads Place
September 17th, 2008 | by Tom |Just got back from this show. I have never at any point in my life said to myself, “Man I really want to see the Meat Puppets live.” and tonight i found out why. Alright is my review of the puppets. Just ok. nothing great but not really poor either just ok. Built to Spill on the other hand was phenomenal. They are playing Perfect from Now On beginning to end. I was weeping during the 11 minute Velvet Waltz. The Fly was tremendous and they closed with some newer stuff, a righteously intense Going Against Your Mind. One of the last great american rock bands i would say. Just fantastic. And Toads dropped their beer prices so for once in a great long while i had a drink while enjoying a show at Toads. Twas a rare and wonderful night.

Damn - I really wanted to see that show! I read about it a month ago (along with Liz Phair touring doing only “Guyville” and Sonic Youth performing “Daydream Nation”). “Perfect” is one of my favorite albums. Glad someone I know got to see it.
